Steve Mitchell’s original songs blend soul, acoustic blues, classic 60’s pop and singer-songwriter styles.
Best known for his slide and fingerstyle guitar work, Steve sees himself first and foremost as a writer and puts the hard yards in on arrangement, melody and lyrics. His set mixes his own material with a highly personal selection of Country Blues and Americana.
Midge McCleary returns to Punga Cove for another brilliant Summer of Sounds.
With more than 10 years of touring, four albums and an average 200 shows a year, Midge has developed an engaging blend of blues funk folk jazz based on his percussive, finger-style guitar playing.
Setting up a big stompbox groove, overlaying jazzy vocals and guitar featuring alternate tunings, slapping bass lines and appegiated chord progressions, Midge can be toe tapping upbeat one minute, introspective thought provoking the next.
Sarah Brown is a Marlborough girl through and through. Born and bred in Blenheim, the talented singer-songwriter has two full-length studio albums to her name and five music videos (including that one shot in Paris).
She won the Juice TV Music Video of the Year Award in 2006; she's recorded alongside the Sydney Symphony Orchestra; clocked up three national tours as a solo-performer with her band; and played with nearly every Kiwi artist you can name (except for maybe Shihad, she says).
Pizazz Jazz Trio - Heather, Alistair & Tristan
Pizazz - It rhymes with jazz.
Heather Jameson - Alistair MacLeod - Tristan Gregory-Hunt
A broad spectrum of jazz for all occasions. They're eclectic and entertaining - ask anyone who's seen them!
Paul & Karen
With their unique onstage-chemistry and their widely praised harmonies, the Anglo-German duo ‘Paul Walker & Karen Pfeiffer’ entertain and engage their audiences wherever they perform. Combining their original material with a fine choice of folk favourites Paul and Karen craft a show of “songs with groove and goosebumps guaranteed”.
The duo hails from Staffordshire, although Karen is originally from Stuttgart, Germany, where Paul ‘discovered’ her busking in a city centre park. He invited her to perform in England and the two of them have now been playing music together since 2012.
