Experience a section of the popular Queen Charlotte Track which traverses the hills and valleys of the Queen Charlotte Sound. This is hiking with a difference. A comfortable water taxi takes you to the start of the Track, and transfers your luggage to your accommodation.

On your journey from Picton, the marine environment offers sights of dolphins, a salmon farm usually hosting hopeful seals, sea birds, plus many small bays and coves. You will spend two nights in the Outer Marlborough Sounds, staying at the iconic Furneaux Lodge and neighbouring Punga Cove Resort. Both establishments offer modern stylish accommodation, with settings that are truly magical.

You will experience clear sparkling waters, native bush and birdlife with tranquillity and space to truly relax. Restaurants provide the finest of local foods and wines. We visit a green-lipped mussel farm in the Kenepuru sound, with the opportunity to sample the mussels. From here you travel to Picton by water taxi; and then to your luxury accommodation with views of the harbour, for the night. The next morning, your driver will collect you from your accommodation, for a day in Marlborough’s “mainland”. The first stop is the Omaka Heritage Centre. Following your visit, your driver will take you to three of Marlborough’s best known wineries with a stop at Highfield Estate for lunch. Your tour concludes with accommodation in either Blenheim or Picton, whichever suits your ongoing travel arrangements.

Day 1
Cougar Line, Picton to Ship Cove.
View Ship Cove and continue to Furneaux Lodge, or walk on Queen Charlotte Track to Furneaux Lodge, 3 – 4 hours, taking a tasty snack and water bottle, while your luggage is transferred to your room at Furneaux Lodge.

Furneaux Lodge
Nibbles, Lunch Platter in your room on arrival. Furneaux water view Suite, double or twin share. Dinner, plus bottle of Boutique wine, Howden Room Breakfast, cooked or continental Options for this day:

• Walk the Queen Charlotte Track to Punga Cove, approx. 3.5 hours, with luggage transferred.

• Kayak to Punga Cove – approximately 1 hour

• Walk to the Water fall, then Water Taxi transfer to Punga Cove

Day 2
Punga Cove Resort
Pizza Lunch at the Boatshed at Punga Cove Afternoon activities:

• Time for relaxation on your own private sundeck with views of the Inlet

• Kayaking in the Cove

• Leisure time in the Spa Punga Cove Resort Weka or Kiwi Chalet Dinner and bottle of Marlborough wine, at the Punga Fern Restaurant

Day 3
Breakfast, cooked or continental at Punga Cove
Cougar Line water taxi to Torea Bay where you will be collected by car and taken on a short drive to the Kenepuru Sound and then board a chartered launch to view the mussel farming industry. While on board, your skipper will harvest, cook and serve these succulent mussels for you. Lunch will be provided. Mid afternoon, you will join the Cougar Line water taxi for a transfer to Picton. Accommodation in Picton with views of the marina and harbour with dinner at The Yacht Club Hotel.

Day 4
Breakfast, cooked or continental
Depart 8.45am for the Omaka Heritage Centre which showcases World War One aircraft in scenes created by Weta Workshop, the set creators for The Lord of the Rings films. Following your visit, your driver will help you explore some of the region’s many wineries, enjoying a relaxed lunch at a vineyard restaurant. Your tour ends when you arrive at your accommodation at either Blenheim or Picton – whichever suits your ongoing travel arrangements.
